Tenor Aleksandar Sasha Petrovic was born in 1972 in Novi Sad, where he graduated
from Academy of Arts, first at the Department of General Music Pedagogy, and than at the
Department of Solo Singing, in class of Professor Vera Kovac Vitkai. He debuted on the
scene of Serbian National Theater with role of Alfredo in Strauss operetta “The Bat”. This
was fallowed by roles of Captain Lujo in Serbian national opera “The Dusk” (St. Hristic),
Macduff in “Macbeth” (Verdi), Alfredo in “La Traviatta”, Pinkerton in “Madame Butterfy”
(Puccini), Ducca Di Mantova in “Rigoletto”, Duke of Reichstadt in “The Duke of Reichstadt”
(P. Stojanovic), and finally during season 2005/06 leading roles in premiere castings for “The
Resurrection” (F. Alphano) and “Toska” (Puccini).


Belgrade audience knows him in “La Traviata” and “Madame Butterfly”, and he also
made a successful cooperation with Belgrade “Madlenianum” Theatre in chamber opera “DIE
KLUGE” (Orf). The binning of his career was also tied with his participation on several
international singing contests, where he reached the final rounds (“Trajan Grozavesku”
Romania and “Belkanto” Croatia), i.e. semifinals (“Francsico Vinas” Spain), and he won the
second prize at the 2003 International Contest of Musical Youth in Belgrade. This very year
he became a laureat of the International Tenor Contest in Trogir, Croatia.

Season 2003/04 brought him notable live concert activity. He performed with Belgrade Philharmonics,
Symphonic orchestra of Serbian Radio Television, Vojvodinian Symphonic Orchestra,
Symphonic Orchestra of Croatian National Theatre in Split, Choir and Orchestra of Sarajevo
Opera (Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Zenica, Maglaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Symphonic
Orchestra Croatian Radio Television (“Lisinski” Hall, Zagreb, Croatia), Sarajevo
Philharmonics, and Ljubljana Opera ensemble when he sang Rosselini’ “Sacred Mass” in
“Cankarjev dom” in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 2005 he started his cooperation with Macedonian
National Theatre (“La Traviata”) and with “Obilic” Choir and Rome Symphonic Orchestra,
producing 9 th symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven, he performed in Belgrade and Rome. In
2007 he successfully firmed his repertoire with roles of Rodolpho in “La Boheme” (Puccini),
Ismail in “Nabucco” (Verdi), Edgardo in “Lucia Di Lammermoor” (Donizetti).
2011. As part of the big world audition ARMEL Mezzo COMPETITION in the
competition of 400 singers, enters the eight best opera singers. opera festival in Szeged, where
with the Ensemble from Krakow he received the award for the best performance and
production of the Festival.


He sang under conduction of Mladen Jagust, Ion Janku, Imre Toplak, Angel Surev,
Berislav Skenderovic, Loris Valtolini, Ognjen Bomostar, Ivo Lipanovic, Valisar Gencev,
Bojan Canev, Bojan Sudjic, Francesco La Vecchia, Emir Nuhanovic,Gorjan Korunovski,Luis
Salemno,Sajmon Robinson,Zoran Juranic Zeljka Milanovic and several other conductors.
